macOS
kindling's macOS installer is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. This means macOS Gatekeeper will allow the app to open without any security workarounds. The universal DMG works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Code Signing Policy
How kindling's installers are signed to verify authenticity and integrity.
Windows
kindling's Windows builds are not yet code-signed. Signing through SignPath.io, with a certificate from SignPath Foundation, is being finalized. Until it is in place, Windows SmartScreen may show a warning for unrecognized apps. Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to proceed, as described in the installation guide.

Build process
All signed artifacts are built using GitHub Actions on GitHub-hosted runners. The build process is fully automated and reproducible. No locally built artifacts are signed.

This program transfers information to other networked systems only to check for and download updates, and when the user chooses to submit feedback.
kindling has no analytics or telemetry and does not upload manuscripts. All project files remain on the user's computer. See our privacy policy for what a feedback submission includes.
